Cross-border eRegion
Cross-border eRegion development is very relevant in
timely. It is about e-collaboration of the neighbouring cross-border
regions and countries exploiting the information and communication
technology - ICT. In that regard, a human-centric open innovation, a
major component of the Living Labs movement, may be a very powerful
support agent. Since the Finnish Presidency of the European Council
during the second half of 2006, the messages of
The Helsinki Manifesto (We have to move fast before it is too late,
20.11.2006) have created numerous activities of a very well echoed
European Network
of Living Labs – ENoLL.
Organizations are invited to consider opportunities of involvement in
the cross-border region's development by an accelerated ICT usage. This
may be very important with respect to the opportunities enabled by the
future of Internet. An experimental (prototyping, living labbing,
piloting) approach imbedded in the Living Labs methodology could be
recommended. The universities and universities' networks may be
encouraged to support innovative ways of the cross-border e-collaboration
in Central Europe, Southeast Europe, or Danube cross-border eRegion. For
example, ALADIN –
ALpe ADria INitiative Universities’ Network.
